One of the misconceptions held towards people who preach the good news of God’s grace is that we are promoting Sin. But that’s not true, we don’t! They say we give people license to sin but in actual fact we don’t and moreover nobody needs any form of license from anyone to do whatever they want.
Every believer must be established in the truth about his righteousness in Christ and it is not a license to sin. It’s a fact of redemption that you must know once you get saved. Your faith in Christ Jesus made you righteous therefore you are righteous not because of what you do or don’t do but because of your faith in Christ Jesus. Cascading this truth as a lie or a license to sin will never stop it from being the truth of God’s word and a fact of our redemption.
You became a certified sinner effortlessly bound for hell simply because you were given birth to in a fallen world such as ours. You did no wrong and no right either, cursed nor blessed no one, cheated nobody, did absolutely nothing apart from the fact that you took on the nature of flesh and that alone qualified you as a sinner. You were made a sinner not by your deeds but by the nature you took on. Death was sure because sin which is the trademark of your human nature was the cause.
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: 5:13 For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law 5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. 5:15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. 5:16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. 5:17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. 5:19 For by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Praise be to God that Jesus the cure came and all who put their faith in what he did on the cross become born a second time. They become reborn, they become born again and just like in their first birth they became certified sinners effortlessly bound for hell, they now become certified righteousness effortlessly citizens of heaven.
They neither need to do right nor wrong, curse nor bless or do anything but simply because they are now born again, they have qualified as righteous. We have been made righteous because of the new nature we took on in Christ and even that is not by our deeds, it is by faith in Christ. That is good news!
Ephesians 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Sin is a nature and so is righteousness. When you are not saved, you are a sinner and you are condemned already but when you are saved, you are righteous and you are not condemned at all.
John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Jesus came and took the punishment for the sin of mankind. He bore the punishment and penalty for sin so that no man would need to bear it. We connect to this great salvation when we accept Jesus into our hearts by believing in his death and resurrection for us.
No man will go to hell because of their sins, people will only go to hell because they rejected the payment or the sacrifice of their sins which is refusing to accept Jesus as their savior. Therefore if you are saved, you are righteous before God in your spirit man.
Being made righteous by God is not in any way a ground to do whatever we like and live however we want. Not at all! Why then must we live righteously then?
Firstly, we ourselves as believers who have been made righteous don’t go about either living carelessly and anyhow we want, because, it’s not who we are anymore.
Romans 6:1. What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Believers who still meddle in sin lack understanding of their true identity, and with spiritual growth through feeding on God’s word, they are enlightened to understand who they truly are and walk in unreserved victory over sin.
Secondly we don’t live carelessly and waywardly because we have been made eternally righteous by God, doing that alone is a proof that you have not understood grace.
Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Anyone who think it’s okay to live unrighteously as a believer who has been made righteous in Christ, could be a pure unbeliever trying to hide under the shield of Christianity to disgrace the household of faith or a believer in Christ who lacks sufficient bible knowledge about who he is in Christ, all he has and who Christ is to him.
Thirdly we don’t live anyhow because man is not as merciful as God! God says you are forgiven all the way but man might have to retaliate on you before he calls it even with you.”
2 Thessalonians 3: 2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.
Not all men have the faith of Christ or are born again and practicing walking in love. Some are wicked and unreasonable and you risk falling into the traps of such people when you as a believer insist on living unrighteously.
Lastly, we don’t live carelessly because we are ambassadors of Christ, we are the light of the world, we are his representatives here on earth and we can’t afford to disgrace heaven, we can’t afford to cut people off from coming to the light of the gospel by the way we live and we can’t afford to shine less than the light we both carry and are!
2 Corinthians 5:2O Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead. Be ye reconciled to God.
Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your father which is in heaven.
You are not a child of the world, you are a child of light. Walk therefore in your identity as light for you are Gods workmanship created unto all good works. Ephesians 2:1O.
