Our greatest need as believers is not to have anything but to know who Jesus is, all He has done for us and who we are in Christ. The epistles are replete with more prayers for the believer to know than for him to have and that’s a vital clue to the believer on how to live victoriously on this earth as well as how to pray aright. Ephesians 1: 17-18, Philemon 1:6, Philipians 1:9

All that pertains to life and godliness has been given to us. We are complete in Christ lacking nothing. When God gave us Jesus, He with Him freely gave us all things. Therefore our challenge is not to have but to know these things which have been given to us in other to maximize them. (2 Peter 1:2-3, Colossians 2:9-10, Romans 8:32.)

When the believer does not know he is righteous, not only will he live waywardly, he will not enjoy the beauty of living for Jesus here on earth. When a believer does not know he is powerful, the devil can easily mess up his life on earth and destabilize him. When a believer doesn’t know he is justified before God, discharged and acquitted by the Just and Justifier Himself, he will keep living in condemnation which is a breeding ground for all manner of satanic afflictions. When the believer does not know he is eternally saved, he lives in perpetual fear of whether he will be saved from the wrath to come designed for the children of disobedience which he has no business with. When a believer does not know he is forgiven, he makes confession of sins a basis for his being forgiven by God instead of thanking God for forgiving him ALL his sins.

While there are still many other things the believer should know and must keep knowing, he must never ever forget that he is loved by his father!

God’s love to us is not demonstrated by our ability to acquire worldly riches. It’s not calculated in how many cars he helped us buy, how many houses he helped us build, how many contracts he helped us close out. The ultimate proof of His love for us is not even in our being healed when we get sick or that we prosper materially and are physically delivered from danger, Not at all! All these are beautiful on their own. With them we live a comfortable life on earth and we are even able to be a blessing to other people but that is not the standard of God’s love for mankind and especially for the believer according to the word of God.

We know that God loves us, not because He gave us things, but because He gave us Himself by giving us His only begotten son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins to the end that we inherit eternal life. God has proven all His love to the world once and for all in Christ Jesus. We know God loves us because He gave us His son, period!

Have you observed that the love of God is used in past tense after Christ’s death?

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. (Romans 8:37)

But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
(Ephesians 2:4)

And walk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for an odor of a sweet smell. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it; (Ephesians 5:2, 25)

Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,  (2 Thessalonians 2:16)

Herein was the love of God manifested in us, that God hath sent his only begotten Son into the world that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (1 John 4:9-10)

God’s love has been totally expressed in what Jesus did on the cross and to be able to properly understand and enjoy Gods love, you must first of all understand that his love for you is complete and fulfilled, nothing can be added to it and nothing can be removed from it. Jesus has died for you therefore Gods love for you is perfected and as long as that sacrifice has been done, which of course it has, then Gods love for you is forever intact. God cannot love you more or less because He has already loved you with all the love He has to give you when He sent Jesus to come and die for your sins.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also with him freely give us all things? (Romans 8:31-32)

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

But God commendeth his own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me: and that life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith which is in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me .(Galatians 2:20)

For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that one died for all, therefore all died; (2 cor 5:14)

Hereby know we love, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. (1 John 3:16)

And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loveth us, and loosed us from our sins by his blood; (Revelation 1:5)

Knowing that God loved and loves you unconditionally makes you realize that when your boss is hostile to you, the problem is with your boss and not with God. You don’t say God doesn’t love you because there are ups and downs in your life, that’s life been unfair to you as it is to most people and not God. Never doubt the faithfulness of God by the unfaithfulness of men. Man is man, God is God. While man’s love waivers, Gods love for you is unshakable because it is already done, fulfilled and accomplished in Christ’s sacrifice of several thousand years ago.

Therefore whether you are rich or poor, hungry or full, sick or healthy; you are stupendously loved by God. The love He gave us, we didn’t deserve. He chose in his love to love us eternally and that’s exactly what he has done and is doing. Check out this scripture…

For while we were yet weak, in due season Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: for peradventure for the good man some one would even dare to die. But God commendeth his own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
(Romans 5:6-8)

God’s love was demonstrated to us while we were still His enemies. He didn’t send Christ to die for our sins because we had repented and chosen to love Him. We were his enemies because we were blind to his love. In our hate for him, he still came and died for us. What manner of love is this?

We love, because he first loved us. (1 John 4:19)

The greatest show of love is for a man to die for his friends but Jesus surpassed that love, he died for His enemies. This is how God showed us His love. God’s love was demonstrated once and for all when he sent Jesus to die for us and we can say he loves us eternally because that sacrifice speaks forever!

I know I am eternally loved by my father God despite what the situation is because Jesus the propitiation for my sins has died for my sake!
